What is a Yurt?

The word yurt originates from Mongolia, Siberia and Turkey, which means a portable, round shaped tent built from a wooden frame. These were traditionally used by Nomadic tribes as homes that could be easily put up and taken down, while being strong enough to withstand the elements.

A Yurt is traditionally a living or sleeping space, you would most likely come across a Yurt if you are looking for a luxury glamping break. These are now a very popular option for camping as opposed to a regular tent as they have many home comforts such as a bed, heating and some can also have their own en-suite. Plus most yurts have plenty of headspace so no need to crouch down to enter.

Unlike a tent Yurts also have real lockable doors for extra security. Wanting to let the outside in? Each Yurt has several windows embedded in the PVC walls, simply roll up the windows to let the summer breeze in.

Elite Yurts

Here at Elite we have various sized Yurts available to hire, however our Yurts are primarily used for parties, weddings and celebration events.

These beautifully unique structures truly stand out, with there wooden lattice inner walls and angled rafters leading to the centre crown, which allows natural lighting to illuminate the Yurt during the day and allows you to see the stars at night.

If you are looking for something different to host your next event, a Yurt is the perfect alternative to a Marquee, Tipi or stretch tent. Suitable for gatherings from 10 people to 200 people! Take a look at our Yurt collection here. Looking for extra space? Why not combine one or more Yurts together to create a tented village.
